Commercial & Community Road Paving in Potomac, MD

Private roads, community associations, and commercial properties since 1988.

A Private Road Is a Long-Term Relationship. Paving Potomac’s Estate Communities Right.

Potomac has more private roads and community-maintained streets than most towns in Montgomery County — long shared drives, HOA-managed lanes, and private communities where the road itself is the responsibility of a resident association rather than the county. This is especially true off River Road and Falls Road, through South Glen and Glen Mill, where several of Potomac’s older estate communities maintain their own roads instead of relying on the county. That kind of work is different from a single driveway. It means coordinating with an association or property manager, planning around residents who live on the road while the work is happening, and building a relationship that holds up over years, not just for a single job.

Working With Community Associations

A lot of Potomac neighborhoods maintain their own roads through a homeowners or road association rather than the county. That means the person hiring us usually isn’t a single homeowner, it’s whoever’s responsible for the road on behalf of the whole community. We’re used to working that way — coordinating scope and scheduling with the association, communicating clearly about what’s happening and when, and treating a private road with the same care as any other paving job, just at a larger scale.

Years of Road Work on Red Barn Lane

Potomac, MD

Red Barn Lane is a private community road off Glen Mill Road in Potomac, in the same area as Bradley Farms. We’ve maintained it for over 20 years — not a single job, but an ongoing relationship with the community. The work has ranged from small patch repairs to a full mill-and-resurface of more than 1,000 feet of roadbed.

Patch Repairs

Over the years we’ve handled numerous patch repairs on Red Barn Lane where sections of the road failed, ranging from small spot patches around 10 by 10 feet up to longer strip patches around 5 by 80 feet. Each patch involved cutting out the failed asphalt, repairing the base underneath where needed, and repaving the section to match the surrounding road.

Driveway Widening for Fire Department Access

One property on Red Barn Lane needed a driveway widened so the turnaround at the end of the lane could accommodate a fire truck — a requirement tied to subdividing the lot for a home sale. We widened the driveway to meet the fire department’s access requirements as part of the inspection the sale depended on.

Full Mill and Resurface

The largest project was a full mill-and-resurface of the front section of Red Barn Lane, an area in the range of 14,000 to 16,000 square feet. We milled down the existing surface, patched failed base areas and rebuilt the base where needed, then resurfaced and compacted the full section with our asphalt rollers.

The Result

“For over 20 years, we have used Stanley Asphalt for our road repairs on Red Barn Lane, a private road. We have needed small patch repairs and large repairs of over 1,000 feet of roadbed replaced. Homeowners have also used them to blacktop their fading driveway. They have always been respectful and do great work.”

That’s the kind of relationship we look for with every community we work in — not a one-time job, but a paving company the association can call year after year.
