About J Stanley Asphalt
Same Owner. Same Crew. Direct Communication. No Runaround.
J Stanley Asphalt has been paving driveways, sealcoating, and repairing asphalt across Montgomery County since 1988. Jim Stanley founded the company, and today his son Mike runs it. That’s not a marketing line, it’s the actual arrangement: Jim or Mike is on every job we do, quoting the work and standing behind it.
The family’s roots in asphalt go back even further. Jim’s father, George Stanley, started in the trade in 1968. Jim brought that experience to Montgomery County and founded J Stanley Asphalt here in 1988. Three generations, one trade, and the same name on the truck the whole way through.

The crew — same faces, every job.
Who We Are
We’re a seven-man crew, owner included, and we run our own equipment, our own trucks, our own paver, our own roller. Nothing rented by the day, nothing borrowed from another company. When we show up to a job, we show up ready.
We’re licensed and insured in Maryland under MHIC #01-66672, and we’re Google Guaranteed, which means we’ve passed Google’s background check and screening process. Both are on the record if you want to look them up.
How We Work
If your driveway needs a patch, we’ll tell you it needs a patch. If it needs a full replacement, we’ll tell you that too. We’re not a company that pushes work you don’t need, and we’re not going to talk you into sealing a brand-new driveway just to make a sale. We’d rather earn a repeat customer and a referral than oversell one job.
That approach is reflected in our reviews. We’re highest rated on Google, with real reviews from real customers across Montgomery County, not bought and not incentivized.

Local, Not Just in Name
We’re not learning this county from a map. Mike lived on Lone Oak Drive in Bethesda for a few years while one daughter was at Walter Johnson High School and another was at Ashburton Elementary, right around the corner. We’re based out of Gaithersburg now. Montgomery County isn’t a service area to us. It’s where we’ve actually lived.
What Sets Us Apart
We do the jobs other contractors avoid. Culvert pipe replacement, for example, involves a permit process and county coordination that a lot of paving companies steer clear of. We handle it regularly, and we know the process and the inspectors.
We’re a family business, not a franchise. There’s no call center, no rotating project managers. You talk to the person doing the work.
We stand behind what we do. Every job includes a workmanship warranty, and we’re upfront about what asphalt can and can’t promise, especially on commercial jobs with heavy vehicle traffic.
